Restore The Coral Reefs

Florida is the only state in the continental U.S. to have extensive, shallow coral reef formations near its coast. Florida's Coral Reef extends over 350 miles from the Dry Tortugas in the Gulf of Mexico to the St. Lucie Inlet in Martin County.

Coral reefs are one of the most important ecosystems on our planet that protect and foster biodiversity. The cracks and crevices in and around the reefs provide many hiding places and homes for small fish and invertebrates. This diversity provides food that we eat, medicines we need, and creates an underwater world full of life waiting for you to explore.  (Office of National Marine Sanctuaries, 2024)
